TROUBLE FOLLOWS
San Francisco, 1894. A City of Shadows and Second Chances.
Two years after crossing the Atlantic with U.S. Marshal Thurman Attlee on a perilous mission, the newly minted Gideon Challenger has carved out a life of quiet influence amid the clamorous charm of San Francisco. With Eloise Petry at his side and a tight-knit circle he calls family, Gideon revels in a rare, hard-won moment of peace.
Young Bozz Bookshelf
Throughout the Young Bozz series, attentive readers may have noticed Gideon’s insatiable hunger for the written word. From legendary epics to obscure historical footnotes, this growing catalog gathers the texts our favorite scoundrel has devoured with those ever‑curious, razor‑sharp eyes.
The Young Bozz Who’s Who
As readers will already know, Young Bozz blends history with alternate history, weaving well‑known figures—and a few more obscure ones—into the vibrant world of the 1890s. Their presence helps shape the atmosphere and texture of the story. My hope is that this expanded character list will make it easier to recognize who these individuals are and understand why they are either mentioned or appear throughout the novels.

Jack Filipe’s sequel, Young Bozz: Trouble Follows, truly exceeded my expectations. Gideon’s attempt to build a new life in America is interrupted by the relentless pull of crime and danger. The novel’s mix of clever dialogue and emotional hurdles kept me turning pages late into the night. I’m already looking forward to the continuation of his journey.

Young Bozz – Trouble Follows is a powerful second instalment in the series, and despite the shift in setting to San Francisco, it immediately pulls us back into Gideon’s dangerous, exhilarating, and tragic world. The ensemble cast is compelling, with each character bringing something distinct and memorable to the story. Young Bozz once again takes center stage as a gripping anti-hero, unleashing violence and chaos wherever he goes, yet somehow still inspiring hope that he might find a less explosive and more fulfilling life alongside the captivating Eloise.
Their passionate and complicated relationship, woven together with Gideon’s relentless quest for revenge, creates a richly layered and fast-paced story in which there is never a dull moment. For readers who love historical fiction, immersive world-building with remarkable attention to detail, and deeply complex characters, I can’t recommend this book enough. Once I started reading, I couldn’t put it down – I had to know how everything would unfold. I can’t wait to continue the series and discover where Gideon’s journey leads next!
